Home / Email / SMTP and POP Address

Question:
----------------------
I would like to know the SMTP and POP and IMAP information for a domain located with A1.

This would be useful information to have posted in the support section of this site.

Hi Howard,

Good suggestion. Here\'s the info:

When setting up your email account in Outlook or Outlook Express, you'll be asked to provide several pieces of information. Although all email clients have a different process for setting up email accounts, they all ask for basically the same info:

POP SERVER (Incoming mail) - This will simply be your domain name

SMTP SERVER (Outgoing amil) - Like the POP server, this is simply your domain name

USERNAME: Use your full email address as your username

PASSWORD: You will have created a password when you set up an email account in the control panel. Use the same password.

Under the SMTP SERVER, you will see a checkbox for "My server requires authentication" - This should be checked.

There is a similar box for "Use Secure Password Authentication" - This should be UNCHECKED.

In advanced settings, you may wish to change the SMTP Port from 25 to 26 in case your ISP has closed port 25 access.

For example, let's suppose I set up a domain name titled ilovealaska.com, and I set up a larry@ilovealaska.com email address in my control panel...my settings in outlook express would look like so:

POP SERVER: ilovealaska.com
SMTP SERVER: ilovealaska.com
USERNAME:
larry@ilovealaska.com
